Well, that's just crazy.

I'm just not too interested in updating here lately. Meh. I'm mostly on Twitter these days.

Anyhoot. The restaurant my sister worked at burned down last week. Sorta works for us both in the sense that the kids are getting out of school right away, Trouble this week, and Angelface next month. This way, my sister can drop me off at work and they can go hang out at the lake all day if they like which is all she wants to do all summer anyway. And I hate doing that. Meh.

Also? My birthday is coming. Wondering what I should doooooooooooo. *sigh*
Probably back to pre-contact North America. I would love to know how Plains Cree and Mohawk societies dealt with things like the criminal element (my dad's a lawyer and that part of me has always been curious), especially since Crees were mostly nomadic and Mohawks were sedentary farmers. Oh, and I'd love to see things like marriage, and whether there was divorce. And how education was handled. Ooh, and foods, and clothing. What sorts of moral codes were there? How much of this stuff was truly influenced by European morals and standards? I'd love to see the differences between the lifestyles of my two cultures.

Yeah.

I don't know if I mentioned it before ... probably not, but Daisy Duke had a litter of puppies before Christmas. It was just before the cold snap and all seemed cool. But then when the cold snap happened, she couldn't nurse them and she ended up abandoning them, and they died. All except one. My daughter saved one and she's been living inside the house with us for the last two weeks. She's a little black and white dog, and I'm pretty sure she's the runt. Either that or her growth was stunted for whatever reason.

She is soooooooo small compared to her parents! She is just the most adorable little sweet-natured little puppy! So quiet and so happy. She's smart too!

I think I'm getting attached. Which is bad because she's spoken for. Was before she was even born. See, Daisy's last batch, my sister was talking about them and some guy who works on the rigs was here and he overheard my sister mention that the pups are border collie cross mutts, and she showed him pictures and he said he'd love one from the next litter. So since she's the only survivor, she's going to him. He said he'd be by to pick her up in a couple of weeks.

But I loffs her. She's so cute and lovely!

See?!

Isn't she perfect? That's her hugging her teddy bear! She always finds her way to my feet and sleeps there. She reminds me of Pixie in her temperment. I think that's why I love her so much. :)

Oh man. This is bad. *sigh* I thought, if we don't name her, it won't be so bad, but I think she thinks her name is Puppy now, because she's responding to that. lol And she gets so excited to see us in the morning and stuff. Ugh. What to do, what to do. We already have 3 dogs. All of whom we love. Well, except for Roosevelt. Well, we love Roosevelt. Just ... in a different way. It's a "special" kind of love. lol Because Roosevelt is a "special" kind of dog. lol

Oh! I should take a picture of Roosevelt for you guys! Man, that dog got crazy big on us! I don't think she's finished growing yet either!

I'm still kind of pissed at my mom for that too. Geez.

Anyhoo ... Keep Puppy? Y/N? *sigh*

I nearly burst into tears when President Obama finished his speech and the crowd broke out into chants of "Yes we can!"

And how much do I love that he included us non-believers in his speech? A lot. It wasn't just about the Jews, the Christians, the Muslims ... we have a place in the world too. So, thank you Mr. President, thank you. You may not be the leader of the country I consider home, but I really appreciate you. ♥

Today is a big day. Not just for the Americans, but for the whole world. :)

My daughter is so excited. But she was disappointed to learn that the school had their internet cut off yesterday due to an insane number of viruses in their network. I'm hoping they took care of it yesterday in time for the broadcast today because I know her teacher had been planning on watching the live feed online today during class. :s

I'm pretty excited. I'm watching live on CTV.ca for the Canadian perspective. ;) So far, I've learned that there's a tradition where the First Ladies and the President and President-Elect ride from the White House to the ceremonies in limos together. And that the outgoing President and First Lady climb into the limo on the right side and the First Lady and President-Elect enter the limo on the left. Isn't that neat? You learn something new every day!

In honour of this day, I thought I'd post this video by Jana Mashonee featuring Derek Miller on guitar. It's Sam Cooke's song A Change is Gonna Come, which I think is very appropriate on this day in so many ways. :) It's a beautiful rendition of the song, and the video is beautiful as well. And it has Derek, who always makes me happy. :P

<lj-embed id="22" />
